Is there a way I can lock the Talker volume level? I would like to keep the Talker volume high and not affected by the “soft volume” command. I tried to adjust both volumes individually via the control panel but somehow the Talker volume level keeps going back to the same level as the play back volume. Thanks.

Hi Olan,

Unfortunately, the Soft / Normal / Loud Full Volume commands all affect the master volume control rather than per-application controls; lowering the master volume affects everything equally.

You can certainly set the Music and Video playback volume to be substantially lower than the Talker volume -- adjust this under the Talker Volumes page in Amulet Settings. You would then set the master volume proportionally higher to compensate.

You can also stop Talker adjusting the volume entirely on the same page, by disabling the "Adjust volume while talking" option; you are then free to set the sliders whatever way you like, and they should stay there.

We haven't previously considered modifying the volume commands to ONLY affect the music & video playback, but it's an interesting idea which we'll consider.

Thanks,

Eddy

Thanks for the quick respond. So, will you please consider adding this feature into the future software release? Because I usually play the music very low in the back ground to the point that I cannot hear the Talker’s voice.

Also, is it possible to add some of the Siri like functions in the future software release? For example, weather or temperature of cities or unit conversion, etc.

Thanks!

Yes, we can certainly consider having the volume controls affect media playback only (and not the Talker voice) in the future.

In the meantime though, you can probably achieve what you want by setting the default music playback volume (under Amulet Settings) to around 40-60%, or even less; this will then ensure that Talker is always comfortably louder than music playback, regardless of whether the overall volume has been lowered or not.

Re Siri like functions, we'd love to add more things along these lines, and many of them are very doable. For now, you can use our Custom Commands to integrate simple things like the weather using a third party program or script.

Since this kind of question comes up quite often, I've written a blog post demonstrating how to add a Custom command to fetch the current weather for your city from Yahoo's weather site and read it out using Amulet's voice. You can read about it and download the script from our Amulet blog.
