TOPIC: turning on my tv with my voice?

Hello, Ben here again...
I was interested in knowing if, after I add the command to the TV button on the remote to work with my big screen if it is possible to use a voice command to turn it off and on.
I suppose it may not be possible since all the commands are logged on the computer and the remote it self doesn't have them installed... or does it?
Thanks so much again.

Hi again Ben,

Unfortunately no; there is no capability for sending the learnt IR commands from the remote via voice commands.

If you're using the official Microsoft IR receiver, which was two emitter ports, you could use some third-party software to broadcast a suitable "TV Off" signal through the IR emitters and trigger it in response to a voice command using custom commands; might be an interesting project to setup!

Regards,

Eddy

Very cool!

Did you end up using the IR emitters on the Microsoft IR device, or some other method of generating the needed IR? Or do you have a fancy network-connected TV that can be controlled directly over your network?

Ah, no fancy network TV, just Ir emitters, and WinLRIC (it's light weight, and doesn't eat to many resources like other ones I've seen).

But a buddy of mine bought a really fancy TV, and to be honest, my 55" 3D LED, with Amulet and HTPC, kicks the his TV in the...well you know.

I'm finding out that Amulet is so much more than just Media.

Over at Media Browser, we got Amulet Kinect working with Media Browser, and We also are using X10 Home Automation with Amulet.

It's really quite something. One guy has his entire Movie Theater voice activated thanks to Amulet and his X10 system.

No when I come home from Work, I say "I'm Home" and Amulet Turns on the TV, Tells me who called that day on my home phone, and tells me new media I might Want to Watch.

In the Morning Amulet is set in Event Scheduler in Windows, to tell me "The date, a quick Weather check" for the day.

It even knows if its Morning, Afternoon, or evening, and greets people appropriately.

Have you guys started shipping internationally yet?

There are at least 50 People, I know personally, here in Canada who want a remote, but don't want to pay extra shipping through third party shipping companies. Media Browser has an entire list of People who have shown interest from all over the world, London, Places in Australia (but those Australians love Windows Media Center ...) lol.

There are Home Theater outlet stores, what about Future Shop?

Thanks again Eddy! Wicked to hear from ya!
