Blue light not going away 12 years 1 week ago #599

Hi, I bought amulet remote 3 weeks ago and am experiencing issues with the charge it holds.

Even after leaving it connected to the pc for a day the blue indicator does not go away an the battery discharges too quickly.

Is there something else I need to try, is there a way to charge this with power socket adapters?

Except this the device works great. Just updated to the beta firmware and got it working with my movies

Thanks

Hi,
Even after leaving it connected to the pc for a day the blue indicator does not go away and the battery discharges too quickly.
Could you clarify which blue indicator is staying on?

There is a blue LED on the USB dongle attached to the PC, which should be lit continuously when the remote is awake, and flashing when the remote is asleep. Is this on all the time?

The remote itself lights blue when you press buttons. Is this light on continuously, or only showing during button presses?

You can charge the Amulet remote with any standard USB wall charger. We didn't include one with the remote itself, since most people will use a PC or HTPC for charging, but any decent computer store should be able to supply one for $5-10. Many modern phones come with one for USB charging, for example, as does the iPad.

We had another customer recently that reported that their remote was failing to shut down, which was caused by continual vibration on their wooden floors. If you place the remote horizontally on a cushion, do you see different behaviour?

Thanks,

Eddy

Hi this is not the dongle indicator. This is the indicator on the remote when I push buttons on it. When I am not pushing buttons nothing is lit, so I definitely dont have the shut down problem.

Also it is not the case of a faulty indicator because battery only lasts for about 1 hour and then shuts down

So, I tried leaving it overnight on a ipad charger as well - with no improvement :( .

Should I just call up support and get my device replaced ?

Hi,

Sorry for the delay responding - I somehow missed your follow-up message when you posted it!

I'm still not quite clear on the exact sequence you are seeing. Just to confirm what I think you're saying:

- The battery seems to run out very quickly (around an hour or so)
- When you press a button, the blue light comes on, on the remote
- The blue light stays on after you release the button? or not?

If the blue light is staying lit on the remote after a button has released, you definitely have a faulty unit; if there is no obviously stuck key that can be released by just tapping it, then yes, you should ring Support and we can get a replacement unit out to you asap.

If the blue light is going out as soon as you release the button, but you are still seeing very short battery life, then something else strange is happening. Do you see the blue light on the USB dongle changing from solid to flashing after 20-30 seconds, when you are not using the remote? (This occurs when the remote enters sleep mode). If not, then the remote is staying awake for some reason and that is why your battery is draining.

Thanks,

Eddy
